I did not grow up in a Christian family but around the age of 11 or 12, I had many questions about God and Jesus. My best friend at the time gave me her old catechism book and I remember devouring it from cover to cover to gain more information about God. Around the age of 13-14, my sister’s girlfriend invited us to the old 3Crosses in Oakland. There I heard the gospel for the first time and knew this was what I was looking for. I made a commitment to follow Jesus at age 14. Since then, the Lord has led me through many bumpy times in my life in the form of trials and tribulations that have stretched me and grown me in my Christian life which has caused me to trust Him more fully each time. He has shown Himself to be all sufficient and faithful through every circumstance. I can’t imagine living any other way than to fully follow Jesus and His plan for my life and to be available for Him to use whether in my family, my neighborhood, my community and/or wherever He wants to lead.
