July 27, 1981 was a day I will never forget. This was the day I realized Jesus didn’t come to make good people better; He came to make dead people LIVE! Sure, I was alive physically for the first 20 years of my life up to this point, but I was spiritually dead. I grew up in a Christian home and I even attended 3Crosses, but my life was void of God. Actually, I was my own god. I was living for self, living for the world and I was walking away from God big time.
That’s when my grandmother, my parents and people at 3Crosses started to pray for me. On July 27th, I got into a terrible water ski accident where I almost lost my eye, a girlfriend broke up with me, and my dad asked me to move out of the house—all in the same day! God used these circumstances to break my pride and to reveal himself to me. I was amazed that God was real and had orchestrated all of these events to get my attention. I was stunned by God’s love and grace. I fully surrendered my life to Jesus on that day and I pledged to God to tell everyone about the Lord Jesus Christ who transformed my life.
