Tell us about yourself:
I'm originally from Billings, Montana, but have lived the majority of my life in California. I went to grade school in San Ramon and then moved to a ranch on Crow Canyon Road in 7th grade. I graduated from Castro Valley High School in 1980. I was saved in 1981 and started attending Simpson College for my undergraduate studies while serving in Omega, the high school ministry at Neighborood Church. I graduated from Western Seminary with my Masters and Northwest Graduate Seminary with my doctorate. I married an amazing girl named Tracy in 1986 and we have three boys--Joshua, James and Luke.
What do you do as Pastor of Adults and Ministry Development?
I have the privilege of working with our adult areas of ministry and our ministry development process. We have hundreds of volunteers at our church who I get to encourage and equip for the ministry God has given us. We have a life development process of discipleship (Seminars 101-501) that I get to teach. We have several adult classes and communities that I have the privilege of working with. Our missions ministry is a thrill to work with as we feature short-term and long-term missions.
What is the best part of your job?
I love everything about the ministry. Serving the Lord at Neighborhood Church is an amazing privilege. I can't wait to get here. It's something new every day following the Lord Jesus Christ!
What do you think you would be doing right now if God had not called you to be in ministry?
Wow, that's a good question. Golfing sounds really cool! But seriously, I can't imagine not being in the ministry. God's call is so deeply imbedded in my life, it's hard to imagine life apart from serving the Lord.
What do you order at Starbucks?
Carmel Machiatto.
What do you collect?
Awesome memories with my boys, my wife and my friends!
If you could be doing anything right now, what would it be?
Golf at Pebble Beach.
What is your favorite movie quote?
"Luke, I am your father."
If you had a million dollars to spend today, what would you buy?
A round of golf at Pebble Beach
If you could change one thing about the world, what would it be?
Golf cheaper at Pebble Beach. Actually, that the heart of people around the world would be softer to the gospel so millions could be saved and that the gospel could go forward into unreached people groups where millions are yet to hear.
What talent do you wish you had?
The ability to golf.
What food do you absolutely love? What food do you hate?
I love pizza. Hate sushi.
Where would you most like to golf?
Pebble Beach
