Erin Vassey

Erin Vassey has been working at Neighborhood for 3 years (since July 2004). Erin currently serves as the Minister to Children, in the Student Ministries Department.

Tell us about yourself:

I am originally from Wisconsin where I received a Bachelor of Arts degree from University Wisconsin-Eau Claire and a Masters of Communication Sciences and Disorders from University Minnesota Duluth. I moved to California in 2001 for an adventure. My intention was to live out here for one year and then move back. Well let's just say that God had other plans...

What do you do as Minister to Children?

I am responsible for running the children's ministry from birth to 5th grade. This includes teaching children, recruiting and training volunteers, program development, etc...

What is the best part of your job?

I absolutely love teaching and discipling children and volunteers.

What do you think you would be doing right now if God had not called you to be in ministry?

I would most likely be a Speech Language Pathologist or maybe write a column in the newspaper. That just sounds cool:)

What do you order at Starbucks?

Grande Americano with two packs of honey and a dab of cream.

What do you collect?

Probably books on nutrition. I have a lot of them.

If you could be doing anything right now, what would it be?

Lying on a beach somewhere soaking in the sun.

What is your favorite movie quote?

"Goonies never say die."

If you had a million dollars to spend today, what would you buy?

I would buy a vacation and a house.

If you could change one thing about the world, what would it be?

That everyone would know and love Jesus of course...

What talent do you wish you had?

I wish that I could sing and/or play an instrument.

What food do you absolutely love? What food do you hate?

I absolutely LOVE dark chocolate. I don't think there is a food that I hate. I like to eat...what can I say.

If you could have any super power what would it be?

I would like to be able to have telekinesis so that I could move things just by thinking about it. That would be AWESOME!!
